The Prayer: O God, because without you we aren’t able to please you — mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus the Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.                                     The Readings: Jeremiah 4.11-12, 22-28 (CEB; adapted): [1] 11 At that time, this people and Jerusalem will be told: A blistering wind from the bare heights; it rages in the desert toward my people, not merely to winnow or cleanse. 12 This wind is too devastating for that. Now I, even I, will pronounce my sentence against them. 22 My people are foolish. They don’t even know me! They’re thoughtless children without understanding; they’re skilled at doing wrong, inept at doing right. 23 I looked at the earth, and it was without shap...

A New Razor!

I recently purchased a new twist-to-open (TTO), adjustable razor — The Parthenon V2 from QShave. It started as a Kickstarter collaboration between QShave and Weishi in March 2018. It surpassed its intended goal by over 300%! However, when the razor was first released at the end of June 2018, the results weren’t as good as people expected. The biggest complaint was the adjustment mechanism didn’t work; the razor was extremely aggressive, even for seasoned wet shavers. Donald Youngner has a couple of videos ( here and here ) using the razor and his comments aren’t good. Another veteran in the field, Mark (@mantic59), in a post dated January of this year, said the Parthenon was a “dangerous, fanged animal.” It seems that QShave listened to their customers and released a Parthenon V2 recently to high praise. Don Youngner gave it very high marks in a video review dated July, 2019. And Mark, in a post dated August of this year, said the changes have tamed the “dangerous, fang...

The Prayer: Grant us, O God, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus the Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.                                     The Readings: Jeremiah 18:1-11 (CEB; adapted): [1] 1 Jeremiah received Yahweh’s word: 2 Go down to the potter’s house, and I’ll give you instructions about what to do there. 3 So I went down to the potter’s house; he was working on the potter’s wheel. 4 But the piece he was making was flawed while still in his hands, so the potter started on another, as seemed best to him. 5 Then Yahweh’s word came to me: 6 House of Israel, can’t I deal with you like this potter, declares Yahweh? Like clay in the potter’s hand, so ...
