I'm in Mourning...

This morning I awoke to a great grievance—Donald Trump was elected President of the United States of America.

I feel sick in my guts. I’m in shock. I’m saddened. I just don’t understand how people (and their progeny) who will be directly hurt by this man—women, LGBTQs, Muslims, African Americans, and all other minorities—could vote for him. I honestly don’t.

This morning I learned that the bullies win. That’s the perpetrators of sexual violence win. That if you’re a rich, white male, you can get away with the greatest of crimes. I always knew this happened on a limited scale—in the small, backwards places where the “good ‘ol boy” mentality still reigns supreme. But I just never thought—never in a million years—that it would be done on such a grand scale.

Don’t believe me? Just ask yourself these questions: If the current POTUS, being a black man, had said any of the things or acted in any of the ways the President Elect has said or acted, would he have been elected? No. In fact, he might have even been killed by some white supremacist hate groups.

And that’s the other thing that saddens me; the campaign and election of Donald Trump has emboldened white supremacist hate groups. They have continually spoke lies and made fun of and misrepresented people of color, minorities, LGBTQ people, and women. To “Make America Great Again,” means to turn back the clock of progress where those people didn’t have a voice; where their rights, guaranteed by the Constitution, were squashed and non-existent.

The irony of this election is I work in a building that’s spotlighting Domestic Violence Awareness month. When people ask why women don’t report rape and domestic violence, just look at the President Elect—it’s because white males get away with it. It’s because the bullies win.

This isn’t a day of celebration; it’s a day of mourning. It’s a dark day for women and girls. It’s a dark day for minorities. It’s a dark day for Muslims. It’s a dark day for victims of violence. It’s a dark day for America.

It's been a while since I did a technological (read: geek) blog, so I thought I would update you on what's going on. From time to time, I hear a lot about the early church’s understanding of the “end of the world” or their belief that the “Second Coming of Jesus” would take place within their generation. And it’s usually not in a very good light. “They were obviously mistaken,” is often the remark I hear most. I know it’s hard to imagine but what if we’re mistaken? What if we’ve misunderstood what they meant? I’m hoping that this series on some of the major statements from the New Testament about the “end of the world” will show that they weren’t mistaken in their understanding of the “signs of the times.” Before we begin, however, let’s look at some terms that will have to be used. 'Sick to my guts...'

I usually don't make posts like this because I'm way outta my element. But I am sick of all of the hype I see in the media. The whole one sided take on journalism. Each program has an agenda. As my wife says, 'You find what you're looking for'. It would absolutely kill a mainstream media person like Olbermann to say President Bush has done something good and right. Likewise it would kill a 'talk radio' media person like Limbaugh to say that Senator Clinton or Senator Obama did something good and right. We are a country shown the extremes. Most of the mainstream media are such Bush haters, that's right I stated 'haters', that they would actually explode if they had to report on the good that he has done. Likewise 'Fox' news and talk radio hosts are such Democrat haters that they, too, would explode if they had to report on any good that they have done. 'Fair and balanced' my butt!
